Spring replacement for A122 Premier

I have a 2012 Rockwood Premier and noticed its quite hard to put up now. Are there springs within those metal tubes I see at each corner? Are they hard to replace (as in me doing it). Are there any videos to help? Anything you can offer would help.

Goingnowherefast has a youtube video that shows him replacing the springson his ALiner. There are other ones there as well as I recall.

Out of curiosity, did you store the A-frame with the roof in the up position or down position when not in use? It is recommended, if possible, to keep the roof up. But have not seen any verified data how much it helps, or not.

Here is a video by GoingNoWhereFast showing spring replacement on an Aliner. I would think torsion bar replacement would be similar. Aliner Aframe Roof Spring Replacement and Bungee Installation

Here is a thread on this forum regarding spring replacement for Aliner. Again, it might be similar concept for a Forest River torsion bar. http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...ar-112916.html

Store it in down position, concerned that high winds may tip it over? No chance in down position?

I live in NE Ft Worth, TX. I store mine up, with stabilizers down and facing south. No problems in two years. I does have the house behind it.

Torsion bars?

Looks like I have torsion bars? A-liner video does not help since they have springs. Anyone know of video on how to replace bars?

You might also

check the bungee cords, since they interact in the process.

And, they do wear out.

Good luck!

My fix

Had same issue with my 2014 A124s.
My front bulkhead where the torsion bars connect into the center is a 1 1/2in board that runs top to bottom and is glued to the floor. YES glued in place. Thats were it came undone thus when lifting the roof there wasn't much energy from the torsion bars.

I'll post some pictures tomorrow. Used 6in pressed steel shelve brackets to keep that torsion bar pocket bar in place. Inside looks great. The storage compartment not so good but I don't sleep in there.

Broken Torsion Bars

Rockwood A122: Both of the Torsion Bars, not springs, broke in the corner bend area for the rear roof. Almost impossible to open camper. Needed help and 2x4s. Are there any recommended sites for purchasing replacements and are there any videos. I have not found any yet.

Stored in down position. Can only think freeze/thaw cycle would do that.
