Stolen battery

Hey everybody! We went out to storage to check on our A213HW and had quite a surprise. NO BATTERY! Yes, we were too trusting and a bit naive. Also very very peeved.
So my question to the group is what have you done to secure your battery besides taking it off and carrying it home. Right now it sits on the front tongue in a basic battery box.
Would like any solutions from things we can buy to any hacks you have done.
Thank you all. Spring is around the corner! Camping season is near!!!

Sorry to hear. But yes, the battery should be removed, brought home, and attached to a battery tender.

Wow, that's too bad. Our trailer is stored at a RV storage as well. Two batteries, hard to get too and take out, so I don't. Guess we've been lucky. But there are cameras all over the storage facility.

I have a small solar battery tender sitting on top of my propane tanks keeping my batts going. Those haven't been messed with either. Knock on wood

When I had a TT I wrapped a chain around the batteries. Never lost one.

I mounted a TorkLift PowerArmor battery box and put in a second matching battery.

When I had batteries mounted on the tongue in a storage lot, I used these to secure them. http://www.b-drvbatterylock.com

I don't know that there were any thefts in the lot I was in, so I am not sure if they would stop a thief or not.

my trailer is in my garage, but my battery is in my livingroom. I have a solar panel out back of the house that runs into the house to charge a small 12V battery, which I then use to charge all my little things. I'll probably hook the camper battery up to that to keep it charged.

If I put the trailer in storage, I'll be keeping the battery AND the propane tanks at home. Just seems like a good idea.

Thanks everyone! We’ve made a home in our garage! And learned a lesson. It’s sad you just can’t trust people. I remember when you could.

I use the same battery locks that TAke it Easy uses. Bought them after I had my 6 volt batts stolen on the night before we were to leave on a trip. Went out to hook up & batts & boxes were gone. Wire cut. An expensive replacement. The locks have worked well for me. Just a note. The day we came back from that trip as I drove into the neighborhood I thought to stop & talk to a neighbor about the battery loss. He went out & checked his. They had taken his as well.

I have these and they work great. Theives tend to go for easy targets. And the last thief got shot at my storage so...

remove them...if that's required...
I must admit that I have not removed my battery (s)...when at the dealer....long time ago....but I have none of this stuff happen to me...
as for battery tenders?....none of that...cheap ones fry your battery over 4 months....
I pull the wiring...and let them sit on the trailer in the garage,...and charge in the spring.
note to anyone ....the trailer is always plugged into recharge....that's the 2nd thing I do after I unhitch.
I do not recharge over the 5 winter months.

We're able to keep ours at home and still don't leave the battery on it. I don't trust anyone half as far as I can throw them. That paranoia saved us with our first camper upon going outside one morning to find the lid to the battery box tossed off on the ground. I am sure someone was irritated to find the box empty as the battery was safe on a shelf in the garage. Used to remove the propane tank as well but since selling that camper and now having the a frame, it's on the opposite side of the house which puts it in an even safer area. The battery is still in the garage but propane tanks are secured with a massively strong cable and lock. Motion activated bright as the sun security lights sitting right on top the tanks is my third line of defense. Even temporary blindness tends to stall most thieves lol. Not totally foolproof, I know.. but it's generally enough to make them move on to easier pickings.

I've never had problem. Maybe i should worry. 10 years of storing our trailer at a storage complex. Propane and batteries not locked. And we roll with the big propane tanks. Big storage facility, with cameras. Near the big city. I guess it's easier to break into someone's house than steal and sell batteries.
