Storage ideas for A-Frame campers

We were looking for ways to declutter our camper while we are camping. We did not want to do any permanent mods nor drill any holes. We bought one of these at Walmart -

And we modified it a little - couldn't use the top shelf back and took off the bottom section of legs - and then it fits perfect behind the stove. We can even open the stove while it is in place. We liked it so much, we went back and bought a second one for the counter above the microwave. They look much better than the stacking drawers we were using.

Picked up a couple of these at a local store. Has dual purposes - use it as a footrest plus store our clothes in them. Just thought it was a neat idea - and they fit under the table when not being used. Keeps the clothes out of sight.

You're my hero!!

I have been browsing the web after out first outing (A126) for something to help with organization after setup. These AFrames are tight and you have to get smart about putting stuff 'in it's place' in order to enjoy the trip.

These shelves are perfect! Had I not already been into.... Um mm.... The adult beverages I'd be heading to Walmart right now...

Nice...

BTW: any thoughts on the shelf behind the sofa on the rear interior of the camper? May not be an issue on your A.

@ Jeep4two, we don't have the shelf issue - I have the 128 which is the double dinette. At least that is the way it came - but - we leave the back dinette as a bed.

@ Rugged Brown - his shoes aren't muddy as we haven't had much rain - it is just the way they look and dust from it being so dry. And we do have rugs which I tell him to stay on. (He doesn't always listen) And this was a spur of the moment thing just to set if the shelves and ottoman fit.

Not only do you allow him to wear dusty shoes in the camper, you defend him when he does.

Just got one of these and some dorm crates (stackable rectangle). Set it up and presto! More storage!

Before we bought our 8280WS 5th wheel, we owner a Aliner ( A frame camper ) You may want to check out the Aliner Club forum for ideas, many of us made all kinds of modifications, I am sure you will find some that will work for you.

+1 for the Aliner owners club. I've read a lot (although dated) info there. Pretty good stuff.

Hi Jeep4Two!! I'm a Jeeplover too. My TV is an '06 Commander Limited. Love it.
On the topic of the shelf behind the sofa-- it is primarily there to support the sofa back when it is set-up as a sofa. We always keep ours set up as the bed, and as you probably know too, the shelf is literally a pain in the butt, side, elbow, legs and knees while sleeping. I bought a 6 ft. length of pipe insulation to pop on the edge of the shelf to "soften" it, it's precut along the entire length, cost me a couple bucks at Lowe's. I picked the thickest and softest, dark grey, goes nicely with the interior(LOL!) I use this shelf to keep a bottled h2o nearby and a couple of very small fans angled across the sleeping area. Nothing else can really be "stored" there, I've seriously thought of removing it, just haven't done it tho....

gsocamper--love the metal shelf unit you have adapted-- I'm going to copy that idea for sure. If I had the space for the ottomans, that would be another great idea. I have a fold-out foam sleeper chair where the table was that is used for extra seat and the guest bed. Sometimes we let family inside when the storms and lightening chase them out of their tents!!

Just got back from our third trip in out A126 and used the shelf that we got at wal mart. It was great! Very useful over the stove. In addition we used 4 dorm crates and 4 mini crates from the clearance rack at Wally world (http://www.Sterilite.com/SelectProdu...=193&section=1)

We used the crates on the counter above the microwave and the mini crates on the silver shelf over the stove to hold small items and add some color.

Thanks again for the great storage ideas. Really helps out in the aframe since easy access storage is in short supply.

Storing our sleeping pillows during the day, I purchased a body (stretchy) pillowcase with a zipper end (Walmart). Stuff our sleeping pillows in there during the day, placed on the permanent bed during the daytime they help make the area into a nice resting sofa, without getting your sleeping pillows worn.

Heads up.. the design has changed and you can't remove the top decorative back anymore. Which means you are stuck with two shelves and have to cut the bottoms off all four legs. I may look at another option before I start cutting units.
