Stowable Lamp Accessory

Do you find the overhead lighting in your A frame a bit harsh at times, too bright or not quite right for reading or other tasks? We discovered a practical solution during a recent trip to Ikea.

Their "LAMPAN" small table lamp (approx. 11 inches tall) fits perfectly in our camper and creates a nice warm glow. Plus, this lamp is entirely made of plastic, folds up into itself for easy storage (see 2nd picture), and is a steal at $4.99.

Yes I agree the ceiling lights are harsh. We have gone so far as to remove a bulb in one and hang the curtain to block the glare while chillin' out in the evenings.

Some folks put LED bulbs in the fixtures, but I don't recall if they are any less "bright" or a softer lighting...

I believe it was thehamguy1 who came up with using LED strips, from ikea, mounted on top the side walls. It looked like that setup worked well for them.

I like the lamp and I'm curious. What size bulb base does that little lamp take? Is it standard or candelabra? It showed the bulb as an accessory but couldn't tell from the website link.

Thanks,
Deb

The IKEA site pairs it with a high efficiency bulb, but we just use a cheap candleabra type 40 watt incandescent bulb. I actually like the warmth of an incandescent bulb better. It's not super bright, but it does provide nice supplemental or mood lighting.
