Surge Protector with 30/50 amp converter
Hi all,
Newbie here :-)
Haven't had a chance to have the new 2016 A122s out yet, but we're preparing for that maiden voyage the beginning of next week.
The "question of the hour" is about surge protectors. Convinced that we need one, but I had a question about hooking it up in the same chain as a 50-30 amp plug.
We're in a campsite that has 50 amp service, so we've got the step down plug to our 30 (We learned that yesterday :-). Can I use the 30 amp surge protector with this set up? Would it go from the campground plug to the converter to the surge protector?
Thanks for any replies! I've learned alot just lurking and reading old posts, but couldn't find this particular question.
Looking forward to camping, but didn't want it to be our first (and last) weekend.
Paula

Yes. You should connect 50A-30A adapter to pedestal, then surge protector to the 30A plug on adapter, then RV to the surge protector.
PS: Welcome and don't be afraid to ask questions here. Someone here has had almost every possible problem and resolved it.

Welcome. Yes you have it.
And......there are about 10-20 people here that know more than any dealer in N. America. Honest. There are hundreds more that know a LOT.
Then there is me!

Thanks! Now the next questionable question. In the photo there is the water intake on the right and the city water on the left. But what is the hole in the middle?

The hole with the cover and little cord? That should be the sink drain!
I believe mine came with a fitting with a little spout to connect a tube. I found it drained better by adding a ventilated angled PVC piece.

No, I only put it on when I'm setup. It's just some pieces from the hardware store, but painted black to match.

Thank you again... I'll bet you guys would like to be the mouse in the corner during our first trip. We're camping in the driveway first, so that should answer some of the questions. The modifications look nice, but I think we need to figure out how they are supposed to work first!
Thanks again

Love it when I have a reason to driveway camp. You know - in laws visiting etc. I have to get up at 4am for work so have to be a party pooper and go to bed early. Enjoy any camping time you can get.

On my first trip in the new camper (in april) I connected a hose to the sink drain and put it in a 5 gal bucket. On the second night the sink clogged up and wouldn't drain. I found out that the bucket was 2/3 full and my hose went all the way to the bottom so water pressure kept the hose from draining.

well it's nice to know we're not alone! Very same thing happened to us a couple of hours ago when we were de-winterizing. I thought the sink was plugged. DH lifted the hose from the bucket and all is well!
