Television storage

We have an A212HW on order - delivery early July. We are considering adding a flat panel TV for it - 19" - 24", probably with integrated DVD. For those of you who have an A Frame I have two questions: 1) Recommendation of the appropriate size TV; and 2) How do you store it while on the road?

No matter what RV/Pop-up we've had, it's always gone face down on a dinette cushion/bed.

Same for me.. face down on dinette cushions.. a122s. My tv is a 32 inch.. yea.. probably overkill.. but I'm a man , I like big TVs.

Face down for me too..lol?..run a tablet...and dont even think of any installation issues.
I load a tablet ever 3 months or so....but end up staring into the campfire...chatting with family and friends...much more of enjoyable experience.

I chose an iPad over a TV. For movies, I have ripped all my DVDs and BluRays to wifi enabled hard drive that streams to the tablet. The iPad travels in the cab of my truck.

Same for me also. TV is 24inch. Seems like a good size to me.

20" face down on the bed. So far only one trip but it did stay put.

Hello.........

Got the same A212HW and a 28" light weight flat screen and it goes face down on the bed or dinette. I think the 28" is a bit big (but got at better price) and a 24" would be better. Got 2 digital antennas. One 65 mile and a very small flat one (got for $4 and works great when close to the repeaters). Use 2" pvc pipe attach to the side of the trailer to get them up in the air a bit. While at Patrick AFB famcamp this winter, we got over 60 channels.

We use a laptop with a 17" screen. Those of you of "A Certain Age" will remember when a 17" Sony Trinitron was considered top of the line color TV. Still good enough for me.

We carry part of our 300+ DVD collection when we are on the road. Never any reception problems, 6 hours battery time, and we don't have to use the camper battery.

After reading this thread, this may be a stupid question, but are y'all saying it's ill-advised to tow with the TV on the wall? Reason I ask is I'm a newbie, just installed a TV, and was debating whether to leave it hanging while rolling. Will the jostling and bouncing pull it off?

Unless there's a strap holding it in place, I would remove it and place it on the bed. Some tv mounts have more wiggle than others, you have to be the judge. If not sure remove it or strap it in.

On my aframe.. I wouldn't leave a tv mounted to the wall.. the walls fold down and could cause damage to the tv and/or the walls. When I owned a travel trailer I left the tv on the mount while towing.. I would bungee it stable while in motion.

Not a chance for me on the folded walls of an aframe. The bigger RVs these guys are talking about have specifically designed mounting locations and they don't realise that the members of this sub-board are talking about something they know little about.

Mine sits on the microwave cabinet, and flat on the bed when traveling. For movies, I just load up my phone and play them via HDMI. Works great!

Actually, my wife is the one who may want a TV. We just upgrade our kitchen TV to a 24" one. So I have a 19" TV "left over", which we will probably take with us when we get our very first TT, which is going to be an A 122 if everything goes as planned.
This thread is perfect, cause I was just thinking about how to store the TV if we take it with us.

Slightly OT, but important consideration. I suggest you actually view the tv you are considering before purchasing it. Many of the smaller inexpensive tv's have very poor viewing angle screens and unless you are viewing straight on will produce an unacceptable picture. Be sure to look at the picture from the most extreme angle you may encounter when installed in the RV. In an A frame, face down on a cushion with a strap to keep it in place s best.

I tried both a 19-inch and 24-inch, and I highly recommend the latter if placing on the microwave cabinet. So far I have stored mine in the original packaging underneath the bed. Now I store it upright (the box height is a perfect fit under there), but at first I stored it screen-down on top of some bags, and the padding in that box was insufficient in that it did not protect the screen which was very slightly (almost unnoticeably) warped where the box was pressed in. Just little things you might not even think about (and some may not care about!).

Face down on the bed also and covered to keep in place. I thought a lot about the size and I noticed if you are boondocking you are mainly using the battery 12v and I got the 16 inch screen due to power limits and I can also watch movies out side with my DC power pack.
