Water Pump Mod Switch

Why in the heck did they put the switch under the sink, in the cabinet, 6" off the floor? For 2 extra feet of wire I can put it in a more convenient location. The only reason I can think is to avoid some sort of water spill but even then that doesn't seem a great enough reason to put it where it was. Am i missing something.

Love where you put that switch!

Yes, some of the places they put switches are pretty dumb but if they can save a foot or two of copper wire per each unit, it adds up over the long term.

Our water pump switch is in the kitchen. I'll be installing wireless switches by the sink and in our water closet to turn our water pump on and off. Figure wireless is easier then adding additional wiring.

I replaced the pump switch with a small lighted rocker switch, located on the face of the cabinet, just below the sink, so as not to interfere with anything on the countertop. I used a lighted switch so that it would be apparent when in the “on” position, so as not to have to listen to the pump cycle on once in awhile during the middle of the night

tommytraveler......

If you have to listen to your pump cycle in the middle of the night, you’ve got a leak in the system somewhere. It should prime the lines for pressure, then be silent.

Just sayin’

We installed a pressure tank to reduce pump cycling each time the faucet is turned on. At night, when the air temp falls, the tank pressure sometimes drops sufficiently to trigger the pump. Also, the lighted switch reminds us to turn off the pump when going away from the trailer for the day.
Thanks,
Tom

Heck if these backward minded engineers could figure out how to flush water up they'd save more space and have toilets mounted on the ceiling.

Do you have a source for the wireless switch?? I'd be interested.
