winter camping premier A122bh

Hi

Just bought a premier a122bh a couple weeks ago, now it's time to head out in a few days for the first trip;
looking for some input about what to do about the water tank / pipes, since we will set up shop in the mountains and temps at night forecast in the high 20's to low 30's
drain the lines / tank ? anyone experience camping at that temp.
the cold nites we can handle since we tent camped in temps like that, just not sure how much cold the water lines and tank can handle overnight.

Thanks for any info

Welcome,

We went camping last November in the mountains and it was the low 20’s at night. We were hooked up to electricity and used a space heater for the inside. At night I disconnected the water and drained the hose, connected it in the morning again and all was good. We did not use the tank and because the inside of the camper was warm none of the pipes froze.

It was great! Enjoy!

Ours is winterized. I used a 5 gallon water bottle and an solar pump for water just couple weeks ago. It actually want that bad at all. We will camp again this weekend when temp will be around 20-35 degrees. Will do the same. Happy camping!

We winterize ours and don't use the water tank during the winter. A water jug with a spout is sufficient for our needs over a few days.

When you winterize, don't forget the outside shower.

It takes longer to freeze

It takes a couple of days without getting above freezing to lock things up. The coldest temp we camped in was -5F and the water lines to the kitchen sink froze. They started flowing when we opened the cabinets letting the warm air in.

When it is cold the most critical resources are power and propane. As mentioned earlier you can haul water and if it starts out warm you can use it a bit longer. Water heaters are not freeze tolerant - they are made of metal and are mounted outside.

One night of slightly below freezing was enough to crack the couplings in a couple of my lines a few years ago.
Now, if I am using my Forest River 2300 motor home, when it may freeze, I winterize with pink, leaving the reservoir partially filled, to flush the toilet with and use bottled water for coffee etc.
