[QUOTE=Studmuffin;819393]KW1 WATER FILTER $28.99 DELIVERED!
After reading all the threads regarding the KW1 filter and where to buy and where not to buy.... I found the filter for $28.99 and that included shipping! The company is called Hanna Trailer Supply and their web address: hannarv.com and the link is for the KW1 filter is: The Water Pur Company KW1 10-inch Water Filter - New Forest River RV Water Filter | Hanna Trailer Supply Oak Creek, Wisconsin
I hope this helps some other camper enjoy saving a few dollars that can be spent on a camping trip!!
You are still paying $28.99 for each filter. Or replace the entire system for about that price and every filter thereafter costs you only $3.00 to $7.00, with improved gallons per minute going from 2.5 with the KW1 to as high as 4.5 with Pentek or GE...much better showers!
Pentek 1/2 inch casing: https://www.filtersfast.com/Pentek-1...er-Housing.asp $16.78 Replaced my FR1/KW1 in my fifth wheel add $5.95 for better bracket and $3.00 for filter...15 minute install.

I changed out my FR default filter system as well. Good thing as I have been changing the filter about once per month. Some of the campgrounds have nasty water, even just for showering! I couldn't afford the FR ones at that price...

I kept the KW1 original filter in from Sept 2013 to April 2015 at which time I had no pressure in my trilogy for anything. I took out the filter and just replaced the housing and got great pressure. I ordered two filters but haven't installed one yet. I have a whole house filter and water softner outside for now. I'll check the KW1 pressure after I install it. My outside filter and hose were loaded with green algea and water. The KW1 caught most of it but did clog up.

That is to be expected.

I posted earlier in another thread that the FR1 filters were being sold at the Goshen rally. They were about $20.00 for three!

Thanks for the info I just ordered a Pentek 158649 which I ordered 4 replacement filters with it and it was still cheeper than ordering 1 KW1 filter cartridge. Got the Filter canister and 4 filters for $41 with shipping. Thanks again

I just installed a new KW 1 filter as posted above and I just discovered at 0230 this morning that the canister fell off. Lots of water dripping/pouring out of my storage area. I shut off the water, re-installed canister, and operated pump the rest of the night. Made sure it was to tight to fall again at daylight and made plans to buy a new filter system when I use my last filter.

Ouch sorry to hear that.Hope it didn't cause you any water damage. I'm still waiting on my new Pentek canister and filters to show up.

Yes, all standard 10 inch filters.
Remember, the KW1, is nothing more than a low quality normal 10 inch filter with a nipple added to keep you from being able to use a better, less expensive replacement.
I have two Pentek's, one in my Trilogy fiver and portable set up for my Class C. Over 1 year and never an issue, with much better water pressure than the F1/KW1 set up.

good, have terrible pressure in my 2014 2860DS. And, hate spending 600% markup. Someone was saying (I think) there was a small bump on the housing , wondering if the FR housing can be modified to take all the 10" filters

Keep what you have and move it outside.

That was tried without success by one owner, don't recall if filter or canister were the issue. I would be leary as they already have leak issues.
This was in response to modifying the F1

Pentek system and bracket, which fits in the same holes the F1/KW1 for those that have already been installed.
I built this portable system, identical to my F1/KW1 replacement, for use in a Class C, out of pocket less than $30.00.

Not sure, but was under the impression most existing whole house RV water filter systems were 1/2, my Trilogy fifth wheel (F1/KW1) was 1/2.
I used the Pentek 1/2 for both and for portable below, two brass fittings from Lowes for water hoses. Don't forget 7-10 wraps of good quality teflon tape.

I realize this is an older thread, but it's applicable to my situation. I agree with @lgray and am in the process of swapping out the FR1/KW1 filter on my Flagstaff. The one question that hasn't been answered is what type of filter should be used in an RV? Carbon filter? Sediment filter? Combo filter? One of the earlier posts indicated that they used these:
https://www.filtersfast.com/P-DuPont...bon-Filter.asp
But, the claim in that post was that these were 5 micron filters, but the description for this filter indicates they are 20 micron filters. Still better than the KW1, but I'm curious on what other people are using in their RV. Thanks!

We ordered 6 of these 5 Micron, Sediment Filters when ordering our canisters.
https://www.filtersfast.com/P-Hydronix-SPC-25-1005-Water-Filter.asp
Because our refrigerator is filtered, we opted for a good Sediment over carbon.
I replaced mine on our seasonal; this past weekend, estimating that is was used 30-60 days of camping…see pictures.
After replacing, we noticed improved drinking water through the fridge and will likely go 5 micron carbon next time around.
