90 Degree Elbow Fitting
I always have a heck of a time removing/installing the 30# tanks on a Silverback. The pigtail seems too short or stiff to get out of the way. The tanks are installed with the valve opening facing out. The regulator has the pigtails coming out to the left and right. The pigtail has to take a quick 90 degree turn right out of the regulator, then a 180 degree turn to mate with the tank valve. That's how it came from the factory. Any easier way of doing this? I've actually broken a pigtail (cold weather) when trying to move it out of the way to exchange tanks. Thought about a 90 degree brass fitting right out of the regulator so the pigtail only has to take a 180 degree bend. Does such a fitting exist? Where to buy? Any other suggestions?
Thanks!

Yes, they make 90º fittings.
You'll need to match them with the trade size you have now.

yeah . . . that didn't help. I KNOW THEY MAKE BRASS 90 DEGREE FITTINGS. What I was looking for is help in finding the SPECIFIC fitting. The pigtail is male 1/4" inverse flare - correct? Which means the fitting on the regulator is female 1/4" inverse - correct? Is there a 90 degree fitting that meets that criteria. I'm looking for supplier / manufacturer / part number / thread type and size (NPT, NPTF, MNPT, BSPT) / etc.
Also, the regulator has a brass fitting that seems to be 1/4" NPT male into the regulator and 1/4" inverse flare female on the other. . .
Anyone else have suggestions?
Thanks.

Sorry I was of no help.
We have no clue what your regulator and hose fitting sizes are and it appears neither do you.
Maybe take your rig to a LP supply company and they can tell you.
Better yet, once they tell you the SPECIFIC fitting maybe they will put them on for you.
Best of luck.

So here's the pic.
It's also a pain to use the hold down bracket - sheesh!
I gotta find a better way - impossible to but it on the handhold area of the collar, but the rod isn't long enough to mount it to the top of the collar (upcoming mod).

I don't need flamers . . .
"We have no clue what your regulator and hose fitting sizes are and it appears neither do you."
I have a pretty good idea, but this is where the experts live. I was looking for confirmation and parts source information. Your generic answer was lacking.
Sorry, don't mean to offend others, but if you are going to offer help - offer help.

I offered a link to a 90º LP hose fitting just as you asked with the page having multiple links to various other trade sizes/types on the same page.
If you believe that was lacking and not trying to be helpful, nothing I post will suffice for you.
Again, best of luck.

OK - thanks . . .
I appreciate the effort, but was just expecting a more direct answer. I have searched many a website before I came here to get an answer.

I don't think anybody flamed you. 5picker gave you the best answers I thought. New angled fittings, longer pigtails, or have someone qualified do it for you.
You can take the whole thing apart, get different fittings, longer hold down rod, rebuild it however you think best. But sounds like you are unsure of what you need, and the forum can only offer suggestions, not exact part numbers or sizes. So perhaps going to your local propane distributor for help is your best bet.

the fitting at the regulator is 1/4" female flare by 1/4" male NPT. The flare fitting in the end of the hose is barbed on the other end and the hose crimped onto it (the silver sleeve). That allows the fitting to swivel inside the hose so you can tighten it. Another option is to take it to someone like Hoseman, they can make all sorts of special hoses that are propane compatible. As noted by someone get a longer one, maybe long enough to circle around the handle. My old Rage'n had that same setup and it was a PITA to get the tanks out to refill. You can extend the all thread via a coupling

I think you are over thinking it. Just get longer hoses. Problem fixed. As for the tank hold down. Just go get a bit longer threaded rod. Keep it simple. JMHO
After going back and looking at your pics, maybe a 90 degree elbow would work. I would remove the regulator and take it and the hoses to a propane supply house and have them hook me up. Good luck, John

The tanks are mounted incorrectly. Rotate each one 90 degrees outward.
Somebody at the dealership must have mounted them incorrectly.

Thank you! I'll probably pick up some braided pigtails too...

NC, I'm pretty sure that there are no 90 degree elbows for the inverted flare. My setup, like many, is similar to yours with clearance issues. I noticed that your bottles are close to the hold down all-thread in the middle. I moved my bottles as far apart as possible, rotate them out about 30 degrees and added longer braided hoses. That took the strain off of the pigtails going into the regulator.

Thank you very much for confirming the difficulty in locating that particular fitting. Sounds like rotating the bottles and longer pigtails are the best solution.

I have never seen a 1/4" inverted flare female x 1/4" inverted flare male 90 from any of our vendors. That doesnt mean its not out there but I think its a unicorn.
You might be able to put a 90 between the original inlet and the regulator if its pipe thread, I would guess 1 /8" Good luck
ps I have been in the LP gas equipment business for 40 plus years
