Black soot, and large yellow flame

Hi. I just returned from my first trip of the year. Only one issue. After using my propane stove (I think it's a suburban) I noticed black soot all over the bottom of the pot I was using. Looking unit this further the flame was also very large and yellow/orange. It's a three burner stove, and this is only happening on one burner. Any thoughts on how I can fix this? Thanks.

You're not getting enough air into the mixture. Is there a shutter or damper to adjust the air into the burner?

Check the air vent on that burner, it may be plugged from something you cooked last year. Not saying you didn't do good housekeeping but that is easy to miss when you have a spill. Ask my wife about chili spilled on the stove and down the front.

A spider built his home in your burner orfice. Blow it out with compressed are (or canned air) if you don't have a compressor.
