changed quick connect on side propane for outdoor stove

Good morning. I have an old 1997 Rockwood Premier 1904 popup, and have recently bought a 2014 Roo 21SS. They both have right side propane connections for an outdoor stove. The Roo didn't come with a stove, so I would like to use the popup stove in its place. However, the connection looks like it should fit, but seems just a little too big.
Can anyone confirm that they changed fittings at some point, and maybe point me to where I can buy the correct male fitting so my stove will connect to my Roo?
By the way, anyone want to buy a slightly used, but well loved popup that might not come with an outdoor stove? I'm in East Texas.

Did you push the collar back on the female fitting before trying to push the male end in? There are little ball bearings inside the female fitting that can move outward when the collar is pushed back to allow the male fitting in. It's supposed to be an automatic operation but sometimes dirt and gunk will keep everything from moving and you have to push the collar back by hand and wiggle things a little bit to get the ball bearings to move.

Is the ball valve in the off position rather than inline relative to the hose?

Just to clarify, you can only connect/disconnect the male fitting when the little ball valve on the female fitting is in the closed position (90 degrees to the pipe). You will see a tab on the valve handle that moves in behind the collar to lock the collar in place when the valve is in the open position. Good thought and possibility!

Lots of experience connecting these

I do have lots of experience connecting these, and know to slide the collar and have the valve all the way off. I'm pretty sure the nipple on the stove end is just a little too big to seat all the way in the trailer hose end.
I looked in the two female ends, and one has a circular hole, while the other looks different, with a small metal straight bar across the deepest part. Go out and look at yours, and see what you see. I couldn't get a good pic of them.

Maybe take your grill hose (or the whole grill) to the hardware store (or farm supply or big-box) and try the various ones they have in stock...

I finally just decided to swap the female (trailer-side) connectors so the one that works is now on my Roo. Easy-Peasy.
