Difficult propane leak

Last week while camping I detected a small propane odor outside of my slide. Couldn't pinpoint it so just shutoff Propane tank and camped the weekend without it.

I purchased a sniffer, and today traced all the lines with it. I found the leak, but it's probably in the worst possible place. It's a pinhole in the hose going to the range in the slide-out from under the camper. Just before the seal. And from what I can tell, on the other side the hose is about 10' more, going to the back of the range, where I can't even tell how to get to.

So my question is if there is any other way to fix this other than running a new hose all the way from the fitting on the passenger side of the camper, through that floor penetration, and up to the range (probably requiring removal of the range?? )

Is there some sort of sealing goop or tape I can put on the outside of the hose? Or some sort of seal like fix-a-flat that I can put in the line and it would seal the hose from inside? Looking for ideas! Thanks!

The arrow in the picture shows the location of the pinhole leak.

There's one way to fix it. Replace the line.
None of your other thoughts are applicable.

You could cut the hose right at the pinhole and install one of these barbed connectors, with hose clamps on each side.

Incredibly unsafe.

I agree with replacing the whole hose. That is on the slide and needs to be able to deal with motion. A patch or seal type experiment mught not deal well with the slide moving.

Really? Then somebody should tell these guys at Propanegear.com that barbed fittings are "incredibly unsafe" and they should not sell them ...

Designed to use a ferrule and be crimped on a propane hose. Much more secure than a hose clamp on the barb.

Looks like this when properly installed:

So yes, hose worm clamp is not safe on a propane hose.

Thanks for the advice, everyone!!

I suspected replacing the hose is what's required. Even if the hose clamp idea was feasible in general, the leak is too close to the floor seal to really be able to put a clamp there.

I will probably need to get someone to do this repair. I wouldn't know the first thing about removing that seal, nor how to re-seal the floor afterwards! (unless there's some trick and it's easier than it looks to me!)

Thanks again! I can always count on this group for good advice!!

Good choice. Any "repair" you would do, even if a proper repair for a propane line, would create a stiff section in your hose that could cause problems as it needs to flex with the slide moving in and out.
