Dual tank. One tank not working

I had to buy one a while back. I found them on Amazon. They have them with and without a check valve.

Here is the view of the drivers side.

Disassembling the passenger side...the check valve threaded onto the line and into the regulator...what a pain in the asre to remove. I may have to disconnect the driver side hose first so the line will spin as I thread it back into everything.

Any ideas on how to re-assemble in a more simple way?

All of the check valves and excess flow shut-off should be in the big green nut connector that connects to the propane tank:

The only reason to have a threaded check valve at the outlet port of the changeover valve would be to stop propane flow through the hose from the opposite side if the hose was severed, however the excess flow cutoff valve in the big green nut connection on both tanks should stop the flow of propane if one of the hoses is severed.

Most excellent point about the placement of the check valve. I will start by replacing the brig green connector.

I bought the trailer almost a year ago so I ordered both (green) pigtails and the 12' crossover line. The connectors look quite aged so it is cheap enough to swap it all out and KNOW I have something which should work. I will let you know next week after the parts arrive.

From your photo in post # 23 it appears the red regulator is missing from the drivers side tank supply line. That regulator does two things, it lowers the tank pressure in the long rubber supply line and it makes sure that once the propane leaves the tank as a vapor, that it stays a vapor.

Opening a valve to check for free flow will show nothing as the gas will not flow unless the proper fitting is screwed in to the tank valve . Been that way for many years .

Puzzled as the need for a red regulator when the gas travels to the passenger side and essentially hits a secobnd regulator. Just don't understand.

Regarding the inline check valve. I spoke to the local RV parts guy who said they were common years back but are not so on new trailers.

I fixed that problem, it was the little red regulator on the drivers side. Take it off go to the camper store and buy a new one. fixed it right up.

I just had a simmular problem , ghanged out pig tails to regulator still didn't work. Looked at regulator found a fly lodged in line. took out works now. Questen is how did it get there. Works now I'm happy

Bought new pigtails (1/4 npt) only to discover my regulator takes a larger connection. Also seems 3/8" is too large. What am I missing here folks?

Can you post a pic of the inside of the threaded connection on the regulator? It's possibly an inverted flare port. Could be a 3/8" inverted flare.

Turns out I needed a 1/4 inverted female (pigtail) to 1/4 NPT adapter (regulator). Found adapter at dealer. Crazy thing....new regulators come with there adapters already screwed in. Someone needs to standardize this nonsense. More nonsense..they do not carry (nor anyone else) hoses for proper connectors. Fortunately, there is a hose company not too far away (have used them before) which made me a custom hose. They make hydraulic hoses and the like so this was simple for them. Not cheap but it solves the problem without bunches of size-changing adapters.

Heading out Wednesday so I will be installing new kit on Thursday, assuming the stain clears.
