electric water heater not enough for 6
Hi all, just got 2016 salem villa estate 385flbh, however it has a 20 gal electric water heater. Filled tank, went t bed, wife got up and took a 7 min shower before no hot water. Have to wait hours to recoup enough heat for a quick shower myself Am I missing something. Could I swap out for propane?

What your probably missing, assuming your bi-pass valves are set correctly, is the need to conserve water during showering in an RV, A 7 minute shower is going to drain the HWH so it's no surprise you're struck with a cold shower.
You, AND your wife need to learn how to take a "GI shower". Get wet, turn water off, soap up, wash hair, whatever, turn water back on to rinse off. Plenty of water for 2 or more showers when you understand this technique.
Even a propane HWH will not provide hot water for both of you if the 1st person takes a 7 minute shower.
SORRY, that's just the facts of owning/living in a RV!!!

We have a 6 gallon water heater. This is plenty for me and my wife to take a shower with about a ten minute break between.

I like the original oxygenics head, not the new adjustable one.

Guys, they said they have a park model and it has a twenty (20) gallon water heater.
I don't Navy shower on my 10 gallon water heater.

But you probably have propane AND electric. They sound like electric only so it will be SLOW to recover...

Just don't see what is so great about them is all I'm saying. Just an expensive shower head that sprays water just like the factory one.

2 - 2.5 gallons a min for 7 mins = 14 - 18 gallons. So you would end up with cool water after 7 mins.

yep electric only, cant get teen girls to navy shower, can I go electric tankless or swap to propane heater? I would think that overnight heating wife could take a 7 minute shower in morning without going cold.

Yep, I agree 100%. We limit our showers to 1 minute of continuous running water about 2 to 2.5 gallons. Plenty of hot water and enough to get clean but then again we dry camp and water is at a premium.

Remember that you are heating with a 120v vs 240 also the heating element is smaller. You maybe able to swap out to a higher wattage element for 120v that may help with shorter recovery time. Another idea is to use a 1.5 gpm shower head. JMHO

Teen girls
If you can't get them to change their showering habits, there is little you can do to ameliorate the issue.

RV tankless water heater
Is there such a thing as a tankless water heater for an RV? (preferably propane)

There is...the neighbor's new River Stone has one. I looked it up out of curiosity a few weeks ago. A little north of $600 I believe.
