Forester 3011ds 2016 Pressure Relief Valve

The last time I filled our propane tank, I was told the pressure relief valve is not working. I haven't been able to find anyone willing to replace it. I have tried Camping World and Amerigas. Is this something I can do myself?

How did they know that the relief valve isn't working? Is it leaking?

If you're not comfortable working on propane equipment don't attempt the following.

I know a lot of people are going to disagree, but you can replace it yourself. You have to make 100% sure that the tank is absolutely empty and purged.
Find the part numbers on the existing valve and get a replacement that matches. Be sure to use gas rated t-tape or paste on the threads when replacing it.

can you post a picture of the valve in question?

Huh?
Pressure relief valves only work to reduce thank pressure due to overfilling or excessive heat (fire).
Its normal mode is closed and if you have gas leaking from it is bad, other than that dont worry about it for 10-15 years. There is no way to look at one and say oh that's bad , you can look at the date code stamped on it and see how old it is but that is pretty much it.

I STRONGLY recommend you have any service done to you tank by a qualified LP dealer.
