Fridge doesn't work when away from shore power

The refri works good when plugged in. But, not now after being unplugged. I thought RV repair told me it should work on propane but no such luck. What might be the problem? What might the cost be for repair? Thx a mil!

When I turn on my fridge it comes on in electric mode. I have to push another button labeled automatic to get it to go to propane when the 120 volt is turned off.

Make sure your propane line is purged, takes a while to clear the air out after turning the propane back on.

Is the lp turned on and are the tanks filled? Does the range light?
If the fridge is automatic changeover, it might lock out several times before lp gets to the fridge. Lighting the range or any other lp item downstream from the fridge (range, heater, hot water?) will help purge the supply line.
Keep check on the fridge for locked out igniter. Reset and try again. Might require multiple attempts. It definitely will after sitting with lp supply off. Once dewinterized, I leave one lp tank on at all times.
One other bit is to verify that the igniter is firing. The ignition cycle will last for a few seconds and is audible. If it arcs, but no light and locks our, repeat the process by turning off the 12v supply (or fridge On/Off switch) and switch back on. Try again. It should purge and light after 4-5 trys. The light up and flame is also audible. Some fridge's have a knurled cap nearcthe burner supply that allows for rapid purge. Understand that feature before using. Once purged and lit, it will fire right back up if turned off. If no 'arcing' sound, something's not working, or out of adjustment. Warranty is good!
I travel on lp. Some may argue against such, but...? YMMV..

Good point as some units wont changeover unless 120 is off. They can be forced over. Read the owners manual for how to force into lp.

Another point to check. The control board has a fail safe mechanism. If it tries to start several times on propane and the lines are not purged or the propane is off, it goes into safe mode and will not try to start on propane. You can reset the control board, by pulling the fridge fuse for a minute or two and replacing it.

Another thing is that the flame angle is slightly off. The gas, as it enters to be ignited, doesn't line up properly to the electric arc and so the gas can't be ignited.

Is it an RV fridge or a residential fridge? Lights on when unplugged? If lights off when unplugged maybe it is not an RV fridge.
