Furnace will not shut off.

A couple of nights ago. We had our thermostat set to 72. Woke up hot, checked the thermostat, temp was 85. thermostat was still set to 72. Furnace was running, and would not shut off. So, I turned off the propane. Furnace of course went off then. Now its cold again, and the heat strips in the overheads, and the fireplace just aren't cutting it. Tried firing up the furnace again. Nothin! Any ideas? It is a Rockwood Signature 2017. Any help would be appreciated. I have a short manual for the furnace, doesn't give any troubleshooting in it. Just a wiring diagram.

Assuming it's a Suburban, I've attached a service manual. Might help if you posted what make/model of thermostat you have.

You may need to purge the propane line to the furnace. Keep trying to run the furnace and this will eventually purge the line.
Is the fan coming on when you try running the furnace?

If the thermostat was still calling for heat ( defective) and you shut off the propane, the furnace tried to light several times but did not as there was no propane. This caused the safety to kick in and it is in safe mode. You need to disconnect 12V power from the control by pulling the fuse for the furnace. Wait a few minutes then reinsert the fuse. With propane on it should fire up fine. As for the thermostat, if it is a digital one you should reset it.
If you have a Dometic 4 or 5 button thermostat.

Reset the thermostat to factory specs. This can correct some problems with invalid temperature measurement when the thermistor inside the thermostat is being used. This sequence definitely works with 4-button thermostats. I do not have a 5-button unit to test so I cannot say if it works on 5-button thermostats. Do the following in the order below:
-- Turn the thermostat on
-- press any button once
-- press and hold the bottom 2 buttons in
-- press and release the mode button one time
-- release the bottom 2 buttons
-- press and release the mode button
-- if you did the above sequence correctly, the thermostat backlight will turn off. If it does not turn off, do the above sequence again.

What he said except you can pull the furnace fuse and count to 10 and plug it back in.
That should reset the fault that was generated when you shut off the propane.
Next time you need to kill the furnace you can just pull the fuse.

No, don’t pull the fuse while the furnace is running. If you turn it OFF at the thermostat control box the fire will stop but the fan will continue to run until the furnace cools down. Pulling the fuse will stop the propane flow and the cooling fan. That defeats one of the main safety features built in.

If selecting OFF on the thermostat doesn’t work then the thermostat is defective and should be replaced.

Pulling the furnace fuse will not allow the furnace to run the short cool down but it will shut down the burner and fan.
I see no harm in doing that once or twice while trying to trouble shoot a problem.

OP said the furnace would not shut off via the thermostat so he had to turn off propane to force it to shut off. This forced the furnace into safe mode so it will not restart until it is reset.
