Gas Leak in our Dometic Stove

We were at Massey's Landing over the weekend and detected a slight gas odor from the stove area. I used a soap solution and think I see where it is coming from.... where the main comes into the stove top at the very first connection.

I assume it is over tightened or unseated somehow. Anyway, I plan to get a drop pressure tester and then confirm the leak; loosen and disconnect the fitting and then reseat it. Hopefully that's it.

If you got bubbles from the soap solutions no need to test farther try to snug the fitting first it may be just loose.

An inexpensive gas/propane wand sniffer can be bought on Amazon. I find it to be easier to use and very accurate at locating leaks.

I agree. I am pretty confident that's where it is. My "field test" was with dawn soap and water drizzled on the connection and I did see some small bubbles underneath. Now that we are home I now have some uninterrupted time (not at a campground on Halloween with nieces and nephews and their kids swirling around me) so I can take my time and be deliberate and make sure what I saw is what I thought it was

I fixed it. The leak was in the control connection "down stream" side. Disconnected the "upstream" fittings then removed the controller. Cleaned the threads and put thread tape used specifically for gas fittings. The fitting on the "down stream" side is not a compression fitting. Reconnected everything and turned on the propane. No leaks.
