HWH pilot issue...

It takes about 5-10 minutes to light the pilot on my hwh. I usually sit there on the chair and hold it. Once it goes on its fine. No issues with other appliances. Fridge is right on top of it, no issues there. Someone suggested a "lazy" thermocouple. Any ideas?

Make sure thermocouple is directly in the flame, clean the soot off the tip of it. If neither of those things work it needs to be replaced.

Just to clarify, you say it takes a few minutes to light it.

Do you mean the pilot lights and you have to hold the button to keep it from shutting off the pilot gas? (dirty, maladjusted or a bad thermocouple)

Or the pilot just wont light until you hold the button for a while? (having to purge air from the line before you have propane there to light)

Ykdave, are you thinking there is a leak? As i said in my original post, my fridge and stove are within 2-3 feet from the hwh and they work fine on propane?no delay etc.
It takes a while to get the pilot going initially.
