The valve in the pigtail is apparently a common problem.

its good that you pointed this out. ive been monitoring this thread for a while now. the switch really just works the indicator. you can choose the tank with the switch if both are on and have propane , but, once one tank empties, the reg will flow from the other tank. these come from the sixties when there were more pilots and it was a 20 minute ordeal to relight everything. supposedly once the switch is rotated to the reserve tank, you can pull the primary tank off and refill with no leaks. but, i have found that propane now leaks through most new regs and their primary purpose has been thwarted...
