Propane detector

My propane detector has been chirping every few minutes. I thought I could replace the battery and all would be fine. But when I checked there is no battery it is hardwired. What is the solution?

The battery isn't in the propane detector.

Are you certain that it's not your smoke detector? Those usually 'chirp'.

The propane detector makes a very loud noise (ear piercing) when your main rv battery is low.

The CO/Propane detector has a life expectancy of about 5 years. When they expire, they beep. If you have it out, you should see an expiration date on the back. They are easy to replace. There are two types. One simply is a detector and has 2 power wires. The other also contains a circuit that shuts off a solenoid to stop the flow of propane and has 4 wires. Be sure to replace with the proper one.

I bought my trailer in 2014 and my detector timed out last summer. I bought an exact model from Walmart.com.

They will scream like scared little girls if you try to fry chicken on the stovetop. And there ain't no "off" switch other than the circuit breaker. I went and got a portable one from Walmart so I could be sure if I had a propane leak. THAT one screeches even louder, but at random intervals from 12 to 40 minutes apart. So, I threw that one away.

I still fry chicken. Some things are too important to do away with.

Lol, amen to that! My infrequently enjoyed death row meal. If your gas detector keeps going off though, two of them, I'd have your stove checked for leaks though. Last thing you want is a kaboom situation just as the chicken is about to go in your mouth!

Mine have never gone off, but I've never fried chicken inside. Probably make the RV smell like KFC permanently.

Just AZ comment based on my experience. Maln propane (lpg) detectors now are also CO detectors. Mine started chirping less than two years after i bought the TT new.

I replaced it with an LPG only detector and replaced the "two dollar" smoke detector with a combination Smoke/CO detector of far better quality. No more 3 AM beeps.

Also, CO is lighter than air so the ceiling is a far better place to ""detect" it.
Also, total cost was slightly less than cost of combination LPG/CO detector.
