Propane disappears?

Can anyone tell me why, when you first open the valve on propane tanks, that it takes a couple of minutes to bleed the air from the line before a stove will light? It had pressure to the stove when valve was tuned off.Where does this propane go?

100% sealing at compression fittings that are usually used on an RV is seldom achieved. The standard pressure of 11" WC is equal to 0.4 PSI, so very little volume remains in the system.

When you turn on the burner valve it takes a little time for the air/propane mix to make it's way down the tube to where the igniter is at the burner element itself.

If you shut the tank valve off over time propane in the line is dissipated back through the regulator.

If the tank is turned off, the gas cannot disapate back to it; Fuel gas regulators are not supposed to have an external vent because of fire hazard
