Propane Tank

We are ready to winterize our rv. It is very low on propane. I live in Ohio where we can have some very cold winters. I am wondering if it would be best to fill the propane tanks before winter or wait until spring to have them filled. Does it matter or what would be best.

It really does not matter. My personal choice would be to fill them in the fall. I think that this would reduce the condensation in the tank, and therefor a good idea.

Fill now ! If your home furnace quits you can move into the RV . In Florida we keep out RV ready to GO all the time , ready for weather or power outages .

It makes no difference with the exception that in very cold climates, the propane is not mixed with butane and will perform better in cold temperatures. (as is often done in warmer climates down south)

We've had reports of folks filling their LP tanks in FL and them not working correctly in the cold NE areas.

A closed (to atmosphere) LP tank/system will not condense on the inside.
If it does, you've got bigger issues.

Grew up on a farm where winters got to 20 - 30 below zero and the house furnace was propane fed from a 1,000 gallon above ground propane tank.
The house had a propane furnace, water heater and kitchen range...along with a propane wall heater in the bathroom.
It was filled every fall, around September. Propane never "gets old" or fails to flow in cold weather.

Prices might be better now than in the spring. BJ's prices for a 20lb fill in my area is about $12.
