Refrigerator on while traveling?
When we picked up our Crusader 295rst te the dealer told us we could leave the propane on to keep the refrigerator cold. How does everyone feel about this? I've heard so many horror stories about this.

drive 8-10 hrs when its 90+ degrees without the fridge on ? what does spoiled milk taste like ? eeeew !!

I've done 10+ hours in upper 80-90 degree with the fridge off. As long as you don't stop a lot and open it up it will stay cold.
I keep the camper plugged in and the fridge on when it's parked at home from the time I open it in the spring until i close it up for the winter. The last thing we do before we leave home is turn the fridge off and unplug it from the house. All the food we take is put in the day before we leave. So it's nice and cold when we leave.

Always on for us...either from electrical power at home or propane on the road.
Start the fridge in mid may and turn it off mid October before winterizing.
Never had a problem...been 5 years now !

Run down the road with fridge on. My fuel fill is 22 feet from the fridge. If you feel uneasy about fueling with the fridge on, turn it off when you fuel, then turn it back on.

Running the refrigerator on gas, while closed up, does that apply to popups too? I have a HW276. Going out on my first trip tonight. Can I turn it on now to get it ready/cool? Supposed to rain most of today, which is why I don't want to run an electric cord out to the unit right now.

I think many popups have 3 way fridges ?? The 12 volt mode would be best for travel if that is the case.

IF you're trying to chill the fridge at home while a pop up is folded down, I can't advise
other than to say- running on 12v dc mode (if you have that option) will
drain your trailer battery completely in 24 hours. I'm talking dead as a
rock. Not good for the battery.
I don't know what the recommended procedure is for a folded down pop up.
I'm curious tho....

Running power from the house isn't much different than having it plugged in at a CG in the rain.

Cut mine on a few days before trip to reach temp, leave in auto and run on LP while traveling. Have ran up to 70 MPH without issue.

I suppose at 71mph - all bets are off  .
We keep ours cool using propane while traveling - not an issue.
