Unfortunitly most of the fixed (set-non adjustable) style high pressure regulators are imported and poor quality. You could go with a RegO 597 series or a Fishers 67 series adjustable unit and the set it at 10-15 psi and lock it off. You would have a lot better unit in the long run.

X2. I replaced this crossover regulator about once a year. About the third time I replaced it with an adjustable one suggested by the propane company. It lasted a little longer. When it failed, I just took the $&#@ thing out and put in a straight through fitting. Perfect.

how could you do that? you can't run appliances on bottle pressure.

This is the off-side regulator. It pre-regulates propane before the main regular which solves the problem you mentioned.

Exactly. I actually ran my plan by the propane tech before I did it. The crossover regulator started being required about 10 years ago when all the propane safety rules changed. Prior to that, none of my fifth wheels had this regulator. Crossover pipes are either black pipe, or 300psi hose which is exactly what the pigtails are made of. So I feel perfectly safe, just as I did before this new safety idea

When my crossover regulator started leaking, I was skeert to bypass it since this is my first 5th wheel — my first experience with tanks on both sides and “safety rules”. So I replaced mine with like model and it’s held up. If this one fails, I’ll prolly bypass it.

Hopefully you are luckier than I am!
I do have friends who haven't had one of these fail for three years now.
Mine always seemed to fail in the backwoods and then I got to do the manual bottle switchover dance
