Serious NO PROPANE

Serious NO propane NO ONE has figured out. WE have a light open range.smelled leaking propane , changed regulator and both pigtails, NOT getting any propane to any of the appliances. service was out twice, had little quarter inch flame at range at one point then nothing . been through 4 regulators and none will turn red indicator to green . air will go thru lines end to end no gas! anyone have any ideas ?? No cooking except Microwave and toaster oven is getting real old.

Give us more info: manufacturer and model # of your unit eg: travel trailer, fifth wheel or motor home?

If you're smelling propane, you've got a leak and that's a very dangerous situation. Turn off the propane and find a professional with a leak detector who can find the leak.

Of course, further information might change that advice.

It is possible you activated the free flow protection in the tanks. When you open the valve on a propane tank into a line that is empty from having the pigtail replaced, the rapid flow of propane into the unpressurized line will activate the free flow valve and stop the propane. Close the valve wait about 5 minutes then open it very slowly until you hear the smallest amount of propane flowing. Wait a minute or so for the lines to be pressurized then open the valve fully. You should use this procedure any time you add a tank to a system that is not pressurized.

I would also question whether the high flow shutoff may have been activated. I had that happen once and it darn near drove me crazy. (Not that it takes much because I am almost there when I am somewhat normal.)
Do as FlyBob said and hopefully this will clear up the problem. That is the same procedure that I used and my system worked again. When I had the problem, it was below 10 degrees (F) It was recommended that I use a hair dryer to gently heat up my regulator which I did.

Might be a simple as a collapsed hose that feeds the stove.

I know it's a stupid question, but are you sure you didn't lose all your propane to the original leak?

I had the same problem turned out I opened my valves too fast and the check valve in the tank shut me off except a very little bit of gas. Wound up putting another tank on to see if it was the regulator but turned this one on slowly an bam I had gas. So I put my tanks back on after they had sat through testing and I had gas again.

I had a issue where the regulator inlet, which is tiny, was partially blocked by an insect making a home for itself. Cleaned out and all was well. Now I leave a small piece of duct tape over the holes when not connected to tanks.

Thank you all for the help , you need all the info .RV service can't figure it either. We have tried 4 different new regulators. none will change from red to green. Back at the shop they all work perfect. We have tried 5 different tanks. All had gas and seem to work elseware. At one point we had a tiny flame at the range then that stopped as well. air goes thru system all the way end to end on the line. and back from 1st appliance, water heater line next range & fridge then to out door kitchen.Blew thru to a bucket no sign of any nest or block.Tried slow opening all tanks NO help.We had to trade our forest river this unit is a LIGHT by Open Range 321BHTS. Everything was working fine for a year , now NOT. Even put the old regulator back on still nothing,

Not sure where you are, but is the outside air temp causing a freeze-up? Hence they work in the (heated?) shop but not when installed.

It seems your stove is into a slide out. I would check the flexible hose if it is kinked when slide is open. Have you tried stove with slide closed to see if it makes a difference?

In meantime if you are on shore power or generator buy a small counter top induction cooker. We literally haven’t lit our stove in months!

Do the water heater and furnace work OK?
You never mention them only the stove and oven.

If it is just the stove and oven you may have problems in the flex line to the slide.

Does your regulator have check valves where the pigtails connect?

Are you getting the connector screwed onto the tank tight enough to open the tank check?

Again thanks to all . we are in Florida so cold is not the problem. No kinks in any line we can see there is no gas going thru the regulator so not turning from red (empty) to green .NO gas going into system. Fortunatly water heater works great on the electric , also fridge although in a power outage fridge tried to switch to gas and had none . then we had to dis
conect power to reset the brain.
