1809 minilite rockwood rubber roof cleaning

I have recently purchased a gently used 2012 Rockwood 1809 Mini Lite trailer. I tried to clean the rubber roof using mild soap and a soft brush but found this was pretty ineffective. The awning also needs to be cleaned. Does anyone have any knowledge about what I might use to safely clean off the black gunk on the roof and awning?

try spic and span on roof
on the awning use bleach and water , spray it and roll it for 30 min , unroll and rinse off

I just cleaned the roof on our Rockwood Mini Lite 1809S today using Murphy Oil Soap - thought it did a good job.

I used Murphy's Oil Soap too and liked the results. It didn't come out brand spankin' new-like white but it seemed to do a good job getting out the majority of dirt.

From what i have read in the past these roofs shouldnt be cleaned. Basically the rubber roofing is somewhat layered, and when the initial layer wears, the secoundary layer of rubber kicks in, and so on, and so on. This is why new trailers have gutter systems, so the roofing oxidation does not stain/drain on the trailer. There are products out there by roofing companies to restore rubber roofs, but not to clean.

Here is most likely the manufacturer of your roof.
