Following a few videos on YouTube I sanded and painted a decal to see how it turned out.

I think the results are good from 5 feet and great at about 10 foot. Next decal I will sand smother before painting.

Process: mask with 3M auto masking tape (flexible for curves), mask more, sand with 220 and 400 grit, 3 coats color, 2 coats clearcoat. Remove mask within 1 hour.

Great paint job…..you’re to be congratulated.
Your description of your own repair sounds like how I describe my wax job when asked how I keep my rig looking good.

I tell people I use “Farfum wax”.

It looks good from far, and far from good.

BTW…..that’s quite the overhang behind the rear axle. You must really look out for “tail swing” if your making sharp turns.

Like my lawn, it’s great at 25MPH!

The swing-out is about par for a Class C. It does let me back into a normal “car” spot if there is grass behind.[emoji41]

I would really like to know specifically which paint & clear coat you used. Was it aerosol spray can? What brand? Appreciate any info.

Nice. I am keeping my 2006 Sunseeker 2860DS looking sharp too so this may be on list things to do. My latest little project is replacing the 1" vinyl insert trim everywhere.

Your rig looks great. Now if you need to stay at one of those fussy 10 year or new rig campgrounds you can pass for a 2016! Good job.

The last two decals I sanded much more (220 & 400 grit after masking - until I could not feel the decal cracks with 220 than a bit with the 400) and they turned out better (smoother and a bit more gloss).

The brown is "Kona Brown". Also make sure to mask out well over what you think you need - a full newspaper section was OK, any less allowed overspray.

I replaced the front screw cap on mine - after hiring someone to fix it 2 years ago. I had to pull of the trim, fix some screw holes (glue/toothpicks) and replace the trim - https://www.forestriverforums.com/fo...on-246747.html

Thanks for link, I subscribed just in case I need to do something similar, my cabover isn't a cap like yours so no seam there.

Ps, saw your spray paint choices that's the same brand I use for anything rv or outside.
