Cleaning front cap

Just returned from an extended trip And my front cap is loaded with embedded bugs grit and grime has anybody found a good way to remove this without ruining your elbows

Try dryer sheets and some water. Bugs come right off for me.

Cool idea. I've got a front cap that needs cleaned too, I'll give it a try. It will smell nice too.

Yup.
Soak the dryer sheets and rub very lightly in circles to loosen the dirt and bugs. If you press too hard you can scratch the surface. Even as the dryer sheet ingredients lessen away, just leave the old one in the water, and wet another new one. Whatever ingredients there are will just add to the concentration of the water.

You’ll soon notice you can tell when to start another new sheet. However, the dryer sheets ingredients will leave a film, and you need to really rinse your vehicle well.

A good brush, water hose, ladder amd some good ole elbow grease.

That's fine for someone younger than 70 I haven't had elbow grease for quite a long time!

If you can make it work, you may want to set up a lawn sprinkler to spray on it for a few hours just to give the water time to soften up the bug collection. I know that not everyone has the proper parking/storage situation to do that, but I've always been a fan of letting the soaking water do it's thing whenever possible. It's not the cure-all, but it certainly doesn't require a lot of elbow grease.

I use meguiar's ultimate car wash and a washing broom. Then the residual gets a bit of goo gone and I'll rewash the front cap again.

I find the best method for bugs is after you get the cap cleaned, use some jetseal by chemical brothers. That stuff is amazing and is the longest lasting non ceramic sealant I've used. If I know I will travel at night, I'll hit the front cap with some quick detailer spray either from mother's or meguiars.
