I have a 2014 Rockwood mini lite and the little d shape connector for the water heater cover broke. Does anyone know the name of it or where to get another one ?

Water Heater Latch
I'm not recommending this one or any other... but this shows its name.
RV Camloc Water Heater Latch

Probably get them at any RV dealer in your area.

The metal lock tabs tend to rust. That may be why Suburban went to plastic.

Make the D tab and metal loop that catches the spring out of alum and solve the rusting and breaking problems.

One trick I have used on water heaters is to open the door and remove one of the top outer seam mounting screws. Then drill a slightly larger matching hole thru the door at the same location as this seam hole. Then use the same screw to go thru the door and into the mounting hole to secure the door. This is an additional door lock in case the main door lock breaks and prevents the door from coming open during travel, etc.
