Denied warranty claim

So been on a two week trip with the family. When we got to are first destination I went on the Roof to check it as I normally do. When I got up there I noticed that the rubber roofing was coming out from underneath the strip that holds it in the front. So I called the dealer I bought it from they were very helpful. They submitted it to FR as warranty because the trailer is 5 months old said it shouldn't be a problem. Forest River denied my claim said that it happened due to lack of maintenance...? So I called FR to find out wtf and the women I spoke to was nice but informed me she doesn't make those decisions or know what the maintenance is but that she would email the person who does and give me a call back later today. Well no call back, dealer is as surprised as I am and of course FR is now closed for the day. So FR is not willing to pay a few hundred bucks to make it right or maintain there credibility. That's fine I will pay to have it fixed, but I will also ensure to inform the world on the issue. I am not going to keep nagging them or badger them with calls because I should not have to it is not like it is even that much to repair the dam thing. I have had better luck with FR in the past but now I guess it is not there problem. Any how end of rant hope everyone else has better luck. Click image for larger version

This started last week, dealer couldn't believe it was denied, service manager was confused said he will continue working it because he was unaware of any required maintenance that needed to be done in the first 5 months. Regardless of how hard the dealer is pushing FR, it should have been covered it's a few hundred bucks, a happy customer.

Yep should be covered. There is a thread about changes to FR policy and the dealers. This maybe part of the problem. Later RJD

The seal to your cap looks awful small, like they missed the self leveling doctor. Also the wind pulled it loose from the glue, and probably stretch it. That's a warranty problem for sure, pay and get it fixed and then get a report and get on FR.

We just had ours repaired under warranty. Same issue just not as bad. About 4 inches in one place and 3 in another.

We took ours in on Monday and picked it up on Friday. They said they didn't get approval from FR until Wednesday.

I would not take the dealers word for it.
I'd contact FR warranty directly and see if the dealer is telling the truth.

I would remind the dealer that you might be purchasing another trailer in the future and be subtle but remind them about their reputation on the internet when you start posting about it not being fixed.
The dealer should just FIX IT and get FR to pay them, IMHO.

Got it tacked down flat in less than 2 hours just looked up the install directions wasn't bad at all however other than putting a giant strip of eternabond on it how do I keep it from happening again. Click image for larger version

you are fortunate to be able to do it yourself

was there any sticky below the membrane? did you need to add any?
You have the answer there...
once you eternabond you won't need to redo it as it will be stuck for a long time

It was actually very sticky underneath, used a little 3m spray adhesive.

kgribbin1, will you please send me a private message with the brand of your RV and the last eight digits of the VIN? I'd like to see if I can help with this.

Thanks!
