Exterior Damage Question

I have a ‘24 Coachmen Apex Ultralight 256 BHS. A yellow barrier pole sprang out of the ground out of nowhere and rubbed against the right side. Minor scrape with some paint left behind, easy to remove. Bigger damage was the awning. It bent one the tracks and ripped it away from the fiber glass wall. My concern is that the way the lag screws tore out may have caused some interior damage that is unseen from the outside. Anyone ever have Amalie this happen, and does it look like a major or minor fix?

Some reason the photos are sideways when uploaded. This is the awning on the side wall you are seeing photos of.

Most of us have been hit by stationary objects at one point or another.
If it where an older unit, I would suggest pulling the anchor bolts, filling the holes with wood putty or epoxy, straightening the awning supports while off and putting it back together. *caution on any glue use, the walls, floor and ceiling are more foam than anything else, always use foam safe glues/epoxy.

With a brand new unit (even if I am a cheap old guy) I would take it to a dealer and get and estimate for your insurance. Depending on cost and coverage, you can decide DYI or have it fixed.

Good luck!

In my opinion there's no way I would file a claim or bring it to someone to fix. As stated by NoviBill, I would remove it, straighten where needed, fill the holes and use a stud finder to see if another attachment point might be an option.

It's really not that bad.

Drill new holes in the channel and put the screws in different spots once you repair and waterproof the holes the screws pulled out of.

My bet it is not even on a stud. The awning manufacturers and the camper manufacturers would have to coordinate with one another for every model out there for awning placement and length. Do you think that really happens? Maybe reinforced better at the top like a lot of slides are for toppers?
