Fixed Roof lift on Rockwood 1950ESP

Background: powerlift systrm started playing up and not lifting fully. Eventually the winch pulled the cable through and chewed it. I took it to the dealer (bought new 2ya) but they wouldn’t touch it. Called every single dealer near San Diego and no luck. Called Forest River to get parts and some instructions but no luck there. They did not want to help but sent me back to the dealers. I am so disgusted by them! The service is just as bad as the workmanship on the trailer.

The fix
:
first watch this YouTube video: https://youtu.be/fVmkpVP_oiE
I pulled rear springs out, pulled the old cable out. Made new cable by crimping 3/16 crimps and stoppers from old cable. Installed a new electric winch from HarborFreight. The whole thing took me one hour and $100. (Several days searching for a solution). I will eventually install back the original winch but I have to replace several gears.
