Front loader

upon receiving my 2008 Silverback and parking in my mobile lot, the maintenance man when delivering some gravel for front landing, hit my front cap on this once near perfect 5ver.
My research shows how to repair scratches and gouges etc.
Been researching GelCoat repair kits. Has anyone repaired the front cap?
Appears to be no stress fractures but approx.. 2 inch long by 1.5 in wide gauge going down to fiberglass matting, which is cracked within the area.
Also a small gauge on the bottom of cap.
Plan on cutting fractured GelCoat out and repairing with GC.
Should I use some Bondo first with overlay of GC?
Any comments or assistance appreciated.
This happened 6 mos ago(still parked) and didn't think damage was too bad, so insurance against the mobile park not an option now, and maintenance man no longer around.
