Has anybody tried Flex Seal spray in place of caulking?
The metal skirting buckled a little from the hot sun on one spot on my 5th wheel. I added a couple of screws to pull it back in and now I need to seal the seam where it pulled away from the side wall. I'm wondering if I should try using the clear Flex Seal spry instead of caulking. I hate caulking and don't have a lot of patience with it and usually end up with a mess. I thought I could tape above and below the seam and use the spray. With that I could get it down into any voids between the skirt and sidewall. I've used it in other applications and seems very durable but is hard to get it on smooth. I have found the spray to be as hard to remove as their tape.
I thought if anybody has tried such an application you might share your experience and any tips you may have.

I've had minimal luck with Flex Seal Spray.
It might be OK to spray your area, let it dry, then caulk over it.
Tape off the area before you caulk and you can get a really nice smooth line of caulk.
Use a good exterior CLEAR caulk and you will never see it.

If you use Clear Flex Spary I hope you like the color yellow. After 4 months on my house this is what I came home to. Use non silicone caulk.

The Flex Seal commercials sound too good to be true.

Tried white Flex Seal on a 1/4" slit on the edge of my slideout roof material. Looked great for a while then I noticed it turn yellow, dry out and cracked!

If you dislike caulking would you consider eternabond tape? It would not yellow over time and less mess and when applied properly will last a lifetime. Just make sure the area does not flex too much and you clean it well before applying.

go to the HomeDepot or Lowes... look around the caulk isle, they now sell great little plastic/hard rubber tools that allow you to scrape excess caulk and make it look professional... use clear or white or whatever color you want, but get Latex, not silicone, cut a small angled tip on the end of the caulk tube and do not put too much on... use the tool to scrape the excess and leave a nice clean application

I had trouble with the siding on my s&b last year, I tried a clear product called Lexel, found it in Lowes by the caulk. It is still clear.

I've use it on one of my water features that started to leak has worked perfect but I also sprayed the brown color paint to it to brighten up the fountain. Been working for a year no more leaks. Later RJD

Flex Seal is no good, it peels soon after application and is not waterproof

I thank you all for your input. I would say the opinion against using the Flex Seal is overwhelming. I will take the suggestion to use caulking and I appreciate advice of how and what to use.
I have used Eternabond on the roof but I don't think it's the proper application for this situation. I have used Flex Seal tape to repair cuts I had to make in the Coraplast underbelly and to hold a piece of trim on until I could get into a shop for repair. I found that the Flex Seal is every bit as good as Eternabond for most situations. I wouldn't be surprised if I learned they were made in the same factory.

When working with caulking and you want a nice smooth application, I use my finger to smooth it out. You will also need a small container with water and lots of liquid soap in it. The caulking will not stick to your finger if you first dip your finger in the water and soap solution. Old trick I learned in the aircraft industry.

On forward end of my 2017 25 pack 12 ...damp in bedroom overhead closet...opened everything up put electric heat in to dry closet wallpaper....discovered cracks in caulking at joint between exterior overhead roof canvas and metal flashing up from hitch area. Used complete can of '' Clear ' to seal it.." !....3 coats n let it dry well....CAUGHT PROBLEM IN TIME !
Buuuuut......the stuff dries out and granulates away after 40 days of solar exposure. BUT IT DOES WORK

So you are saying it does work... but only for 40 days?
