How much for a new roof

Good Day Group,

I'm new here for I just purchased a new to me 21' Forest River Sierra Sport (CSET21SP) toy hauler and the previous owner NEVER maintained the rubber membrane roof. Presently, there are no leaks however it has a few tears on the side and eventually It's going to need replacement. My question is what would be a ballpark figure to have the roof replaced by say Camping World??

Thanks

Dan..

Your best bet is to ask them. Around here Camping World is high and our local small dealer often does work they do for 1/2 or less. Your area the labor rates could be considerably different. Best to ask in your area.

Ya I know I was just trying to get a "Ball Park" idea of what I would be eventually looking at.

Not cheap. FR paid for the replacement of the rubber roof on our 32' Rockwood 5th wheel. The local dealer said FR reimbursed them for 32 hours of labor, although it took them about 40 hours to do the job. And, that does not include the rubber roof and other materials.

40 hours X $90 per hour?!!

I had the rubber roof replaced on a 11 ft cab over camper. The cost for the roof only materials and labor was $2500.00. There was no structural damage so no money spent there. I had them replace the air conditioner cover and refrigerator cover. They were in addition to the roof. Not cheap.

In the fall of '13 I filed an insurance claim for a damaged roof on a 33' fifth wheel and the cost was $4200. Fortunately I was only responsible for the deductible of $1K. You should cover those tears with Eternabond RV tape to prevent leaks and further tearing.

Kind of like I figured your estimates here would go $2000 to $6000 Labor rate here is $65 an hour unless you are a frequent customer it is less.........

Good Luck!!!!

opfor2 - Dan,

have you thought about putting a coating over the roof? You say it is in good condition. I bought a 5 gallon roof coating material from the local Home Depot and applied in a very short time and hardly any labor. The product was white and looked great. I was very happy and the roof stayed in excellent condition. It was not an issue when I traded my trailer in years later for a new one.

Just thought you might consider it. I think it cost about $100-$125. A lot less than a new roof and way less labor. I know that for a fact as I spent four days helping put a new roof on a friends 30' TT.

Wish you the best with what ever you decide.

Just had a "Rhino" Roof installed on my RES305. It's the same material as a Rhino bedliner for a truck. The dealer said the cost is the same as a traditional roof but the bonus is "no maint ever required". It was $5600 and change. Over $5K was labor!

Replacing a roof is a lot of labor. Just no getting around it. An when you are paying someone $100/hr, it sure adds up quick.

Vin.

This question we have experience with! Fall, 2010 we looked in our 1993 Prowler TT to see that it had leaked..lots...17' TT I believe..Roof replacement was $2351.10 here in SW MO..breakdown was labor $1500 & Materials $802.17..balance S.Tax..

Material used was from the Dicor Corp.."Brite-Ply" Roofing System..later sold the TT, so hope that the roof is holding up!

Rino RV Roof

Here is the web site for RINO Rhino Eco Coat Bed Liner, Best Spray on Bed Liner, Truck Bed Liner | Rhino Linings

Also, this site has a video Rhino Linings Introduces Long-Term RV Roof Repair and Restoration Product

Start your search and gather more information, I would do this. Where I had my F150 bed sprayed, they are getting in to this business, they use Linex products. So do a web search on this and you will find a lot of information.

Wow! Not sure where you're located but the pricing I got for the Rhino roof here in Florida was much less than that shown by 305RESGUY. First, I would NOT trust Camping World to do it. Secondly, the Rhino roof guys here offer a lifetime warranty and the pricing they gave me was about $125 per linear foot of your TT/RV. That includes removal of all the vents, AC, etc and re installation with new seals as well as cleaning, prep and inspection of the existing roof to make sure the substrate is good. The guy who does them is in Jacksonville; takes about 4-5 days to complete.

YES!!! This is exactly what I'm going to do. DICOR, the manufacture of my roof sells a refresh kit. I do have a few small tear's along the edge of the roof so I will use the proper repair tape.

$5K is a good estimate.
Might look at Dicor products to patch and coat existing roof. Might work fo quite a while.
