Hurricane rips off Roof Vents - need permanent fix

Parked my Travel Trailer in Florida storage lot, unfortunately Hurricane Ian came from behind and did not hit head on. Result - like backing up at 130mph !!

all three roof vent hatches got ripped off and soaked the interior as well as the Dometic AC shroud cover.

I found some styrofoam from neighboring warehouse roof, cut it to cover the openings and put bricks on top to temporarily stop rain from coming in the openings.

I dont want to deal with this again, any ideas on how to permanently seal the roof hatch openings? Plywood? Star board?

the original is probably strand board... looks like large flakes glued together
should be OK to use too

matching the inside finished board will be a pain

Can't think of anything that will be permanently attached if hit by 130mph winds.
Have you contacted your insurance company about coverage?

If you cover up those vents you are setting yourself up for condensation damage in the feature. Myself I would replace the vents with new and put good vent covers over them. JMHO

X2. If those winds can rip a steel roof off of a building, a TT roof vent doesn't stand a chance.

The 'permanent' fix is to repair/replace items damaged by the the storm, the same as everyone does after a major wind event like a hurricane.
There is no way to prevent the same from happening in the future in a similar event. No part of any RV is built to withstand 130mph wind! Move it or lose it.
Replace the flimsy OEM vent covers with after market. Most will be at least double the thickness and durability.
Then add an additional vent cover like MaxxAir or MaxxAir II. Not only do they provide extra protection, but allow you to leave the standard vent cover open during travel and rain for ventilation. https://www.campingworld.com/maxxair...ite-37732.html
