Question Looking for options

Looking for advice.
Last summer we picked up a new to us but used TT.
It is our 1st camper with a slide out.
We got it at a great price but the 1st rainstorm explained why we got such a good price. So I got a tarp and we made it threw the end of the season and stored it until spring.
Now with Covid, a buddy and I got around to taking care of it.
We ended up repairing an 8' x 8' section of the roof. (rebuilding trusses, re insulating, replacing plywood and rubber roofing).
The problem is the rubber roofing my buddy had was what is normally used on stick built buildings. I think it's great that is is actually thicker than the normal camper roof BUT the rubber is black in stead of white!
The question I have is: Is their a coating that I can "paint" on that will help lower the temperature?

Is a slide topper awning an option? You could always try a white top coat material like a flex seal (you wouldn't really need the sealing properties, and it seemed the cheapest), but I don't know how well it would hold up to the slide seals rubbing across it.

I might of misread your post.....is the black roof on the slide out or on the main body of the camper? 8'x8' would be a large slide out.

The 8x8 is on the main roof. Slide out is fine.

Heng's makes different roof coatings. Just follow directions, trim out and roll on like paint. Get the one for that type of rubber. I believe Dicor makes rubber roof coatings also.
