Need some advice vent replacement

I am trying to change my roof vent and replace it with a max air . I have done this before but this new trailer has a different type of sealant on it. It’s not like 501 it does not come off like that did, it’s very rubber like. I tried to remove a little bit along the edge and it instantly peeled up pieces of the roof.

My thought was to remove all the screws and literally cut the vent off the roof and repair the area with eternabond tape. Has anyone ever had the same problem and did that type of repair? Or any suggestions would be great.

Who is the MFG and Age of this Unit? They use some Powerful sealant! Your Eternabond fix sounds like a good idea! Youroo!!
