Question old paint coming off 2003 Wildwood Hybrid

We have a new to us 2003 Wildwood Hybrid with aluminum siding. Who knows how long it has been since it was waxed and the paint is very dull. We were trying to get the terrible black streaks off with a cleanser and the paint just rubbed off on the cloth. Do we need to just deal with the look of the dull exterior or is there something else we can do?
Thank you!

Hi,
Congrats on the new to you 2003 Wildwood Hybrid.
Can you post a couple pictures of what you are dealing with? The pictures will really help us come up with a solution for you.
Welcome to the forum from Bainbridge, Ohio.
