Roof leak

I have a 2017 forest river salem 27 rei. It has a roof leak where the front roof meets the front curved wall. Was looking for advice on how to seal this and what products to use.

I tried to attach a pic but I guess I don't know how

Looks like no one has done any preventive roof maintenance.
That caulking appears very old and cracked/ separated.
That old caulking needs to be removed and re-caulked with Dicor.

Roof Leak

Yes, you are right, no maintenance. That is why I'm here. I don't know everything so looking for advise.

BTW, the maintenance I have had done at a shop was very poor and overly expensive.

I always have done my own roof maintenance. Used self leveling Dicor caulk. Luckily mine never got that bad. I just put new caulking over the splits and cracks.

That front seam was always the biggest problem area on my TT.

Clean up the old caulk as much as possible.
Get some Eternabond tape $$$. Look on Amazon for it.

Use that to seal it up.

Yep, forgot about Eternabond tape.
If you can remove the old caulking, just use that.

Given a choice, is the preferred solution to use Eternabond tape or self-leveling Dicor? Does one or the other have better durability / life?

Also, how is the shelf life of the Eternabond tape for it to retain its adhesion? It looks like one roll of that is going to be a lifetime supply...

My r-pod has a similar construction along that front seam. I'm glad to have learned from this post that's a place to keep an eye on.

It is a personal preference. Eternabond properly prepped surfaces and application is going to last way longer than self leveling lap sealant. Use of Eternabond should not absolve a person from inspecting and cleaning the roof on schedule.

I've stuck (no pun intended) with Dicor for touchup maintenance. Eternabond roll seems to last indefinitely. I've got some for emergency on the road repairs and have used it here and there, not on the roof, it's 15 years old and seems good as new in the packaging.

Yes no maintenance but the real problem is the metal strip holding everything together has separated. I cleaned it up, resealed, added 16 screws and applied self leveling sealer. It should be good now.

As a general note, I'm thinking the tape option is not a good idea at the front seam, being exposed to 75 mph winds while traveling.

A second note, while attempting to remove old sealer, the roof fabric was stretching and I didn't want to tare it. So old sealer is still in place. I removed the loose stuff.

On a third note to the manufacturers, you may want to use rubberized canvas like what the truckers use. The fabric on my roof is cheap crap.
