Roof Seam

Black gasket material protrudes an 1/8 tp a 1/4 inch from the seem on one side of my high wall's fiberglass roof. The protruding material is crumbling off. Should I trim where necessary and apply sealant? If I should apply a sealant, RV sealant, silicone sealant, Dicor lap sealant or other method? Prefer not to use Dicor for this application since it stays sticky.
