Rusty Bathroom Vent Screen

Does anyone know how to get these screens off, so we can clean it, and the inside of the vent? We have a Maxxair vent cover, so we can't get to it from the roof. Thanks. Hopefully this screen just pops off easily.

The Maxxair vent cover on my Rockwood came off quite easily with four cotter pins on the roof. After removing it, you can open the vent from the inside and remove the lift arm from the open vent. From there, remove the vent cover completely by opening it all the way and reach down to clean the screen.

From what I recall, there were two screws holding the screen in, but they were difficult to reach, so I never removed mine.

I don't think I want to approach trying to clean this by removing the Maxxair vent. Thomas, do you remove the whole plastic molding piece and then the handle and screen? I hope I'm explaining this correctly. Thanks!

Remove the handle, then at opposite ends of the screen are the screws that drop the screen. You do all of this inside - no need to get on the roof unless you need to clean the top of the vent lid. When it is time to replace those screen screws, set up in advance a time block for a confessional so you can be forgiven for all the cussing getting those screws back in. I done this many times on the last three RVs. I also ripped out that noisy fan and box and installed a huge computer fan. What a difference in lack of noise. You may think the computer fan doesn't move a lot of air, since it doesn't cover the whole vent, but up on the roof you can feel all the air being expelled from your TT by the computer fan. You can buy a computer fan for under $20.00 too.
