Seal repair question

We had a piece of rubber come off our slide during a freak 60 MPH, driving rain storm last night. The slides were out on the trailer. This is a tube shaped strip (more like weather stripping on a door) that runs vertically on the inside edges of the slide. When the slide goes in it basically protects the siding on the trailer from the edges of the slide as they come in. It's NOT the water proofing seals all around the slide. It appears that it was attached with some kind of double stick tape (which obviously has lost its stickiness). Am I just looking for regular old double stick foam tape to put it back on? The tape will have to stick to rubber on one side and metal on the other. I looked at a 3m VHD tape but it looks awfully permanent. If you try to take it off you will destroy everything! Any input from my RV friends? Thanks!
