Taillight sealant ???

Anyone have thoughts on what the previous owners (idiots) sealed the tail light with ? They did a horrible job an I don’t no what to use to clean it up with

Try Goo Gone or alcohol. Looks like some type of caulking..

That could even be a factory job on a 2004 unit. It maybe old proseal, which I'd probably use too. In my toolbox of odds and ends I have a 1/2 delrin rod sharpened to a chisel edge. Won't damage or scratch anything , makes a terrific scraper. That and some mineral spirits would be my suggestion. Don't think alcohol would touch it. Maybe afterwards as a prep to reseal alcohol would be appropriate. Acetone maybe, I don't use that often.
