Tall Vent Fan Cover

I just replaced the stock little fan on my Wolf Pup with this unit from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BGXBVHJ7 - it works great, but the lid opens to about 14" above the roof deck, which means most RV vent covers do not work. Has anyone found a vent cover that is 14" or more tall inside?

I don’t know of a vent cover that opens 14” or more, but the feature of this fan unit is that it closes automatically if it gets wet…..like the rain started?

I guess you really don’t need a vent cover with this exact unit, as seen in their own attached photos.

Welcome to the forum. I haven't seen a cover that tall. The pictures in the Amazon ad for the fan do not show the fan lid going to the near 90 degrees necessary for a 14 inch rise, only to around 45 degrees which any standard cover should fit. Have you seen it go to near 90 degrees?

Since that fan looks like a knock off of a MaxxAir 7500 you might want to see what fits it and see if it will work on yours. FWIW I have the MaxxAir 7500 and do not use a cover on it since it automatically closes in the rain. The specs on your unit show it does as well.

Thanks, guys - I have just discovered that if the lid is restricted from opening at a certain point, the motor will labor for a couple of seconds, then stop. It appears to be self-adjusting in this sense. I'll look for a large MaxxAir vent cover and let the fan lid open as far as it can.

If you get a MaxxAir cover I suggest you also get the mesh bug screen insert. That will help keep unwanted "stuff" from nesting in your cover...

Yes, I am seeing that in a lot of places. I will definitely get the insect screening.

My MaxAir cover was OEM, allows vent van cover to open pretty far. Mine vent fan cover has a knob you turn to open it. I've never had to close my vent fan cover in the rain or in transit with this.
