Well that's done and what a job it was!!! My brush on a stick is too soft. Could look better. If I had some green scratch pads it would look good as new. Now to hit the road tomorrow stylin

Thanks! I now need to get some pole barn plans from RVchick!
I saw a small spot where the rubber membrane is not adhered to the roof. Maybe the size of a golf ball. Not raised up very far. Anything to be alarmed about?

A few questions;
When you wax, do you use a power buffer? If so, does it affect the decals?

After reading this thread it inspired me to clean my roof (that and I noticed that those who don't get black steaks down the side). I also stumbled on the best possible roof cleaner...my wife 
I am still not clear on "coating/waxing". Does everyone wax thier campers every year? Do you use car wax or is there something else you use? Sorry if I missed this earlier in the thread.

I wax once or twice year.... clean roof in the spring.

Wow I'm impressed. What did you use as a liquid combo to wash that beautiful roof. Was it waxed afterwords? If so what did you use?

My roof never comes out that clean and chalks badly when I do clean it. Still has black spots all over it. We live about 10 miles from the Pacific Ocean with a lot of foggy nights/mornings.

Our last Jayco I had for over 7 years. Never cleaned the roof. No need to. We don't camp usually under trees. I do inspect for cracks though.
Lately roofs are coming with the top rolled over to the side walls. This really prevent leaks due to cracking of sealant.

I used to have a fifth wheel and every year I would get on the roof with a bucket of hot water to which I added laundry detergent and bleach. I used a scrub brush with a broom handle attached and kept a hose with a shut off nozzle on the roof to rinse as I cleaned. Did the same thing to the awning. My last trailer I sold after two years and I never looked at the roof. Current camper is not yet a year old.

So...From what I've seen you clean with lots of beer and ask your neighbor to do it. Is that correct? What about using Jack Daniels for UV protection? LOL...Seriously, I just saw this post after posting my own situation (Roof Clean & UV $350). I am sure it is dirty (only cleaned it once last year) but I still would like comments about the cost, etc. Thanks everyone. Now to the store for that beer...

If you do decide to have it cleaned by someone else, be sure to ask how is is done. You will not have their most experienced service person washing the roof. Some dealers use commercial truck power washers as they are quick and do a good job cleaning. The problem is that it is very easy to use them incorrectly resulting in loose caulking or window seals and leaks. I believe you should never power wash an RV, In the CEO's recent interview, he also mentions a change in the ownership of cleaning new RV's after transport from the factory. Dealers now get a $30 credit to wash them. Do the math. This may result in more dealers using power washers. If you order a new RV be sure to specify no power washing.

I use Best cleaner protectant one step process twice a year....$40 a gallon at Tom Johnson, and full strength will clean roof 6 times....just follow instructions on container, wet roof and use full strength...about a half inch in dish pan, dip brush and clean small area, keep roof and sides wet, rinse frequent....good luck....
