Yes, its very common. Good thing you found it when you did. The Camco aftermarket lids are thick and guaranteed unbreakable. I'm looking for three now for my class c which have started cracking up. Now the problem is to figure out which one fits your vents. There are several types of hinges. Take a picture of your with you to rv store so you can get the correct fit. In the mean time, you can fold several layers of aluminum foil over the broken vent's frame and clamp it closed tight.

I've had this happen once or twice. I always borrow a square yard of 10 mil construction vinyl from the campground operator, fold it in fourths, and tuck it under three sides (all but hinge) while DW cranks the vent closed.
