What are these spots?
These spots have begun appearing and are getting worse. They are on plastic trim in the front cap and above the slide so they are not rust. They are smooth/in the plastic. They are only on one side of my trailer. The trailer is stored outside at a storage lot. Any idea what they are or what is causing them? Also how do I get rid of them? I wash and wax at least twice a year. Thanks

This is a bacteria that is eating the vinyl. It's the same spots you see on PVC lawn furniture and deck railings. I've had some luck removing them from the latter with Formula 409 but it doesn't always work.

Mold..
There was a post a few months back about a mold removal product from HD with great results.
Is this on the vinyl screw cover molding. Very cheap to replace if this is the case.

I agree with crunchman. Looks like mold. I had similar marks on my Sunseeker after I had it in under ground storage for the winter. I used a product called Reliable. It removed all of the marks for me. Hope this helps you.

I tried several cleaning products on my Sunseeker to try and remove the spots, with no luck! When I was prepping the roof seams for Eternabond I used acetone and the spots wiped right off. I then wiped them down with water and applied 303 protectant - they still look clean...

I would try one of those magic erasers. I've used them on my awning and removed black streaks with them with good success.

I tried that on my old trailer and there is some kind of oily residue that keeps the solution from penetrating. Took off surface dirt and that was it.
I like the earlier post using acetone. The old trailer is gone but if I see the mold again the "cures" presented so far here will be top of mind.
Mold is everywhere. Travels through the air and it just loves moisture. If you think it's bad with a Travel Trailer or Motorhome, try getting it under control with a large boat (35').

Is there any bark mulch or wood chips close to the side of the trailer that has the spots? Artillery fungus can grow in mulch or wood chips and then spread to nearby objects.

I've used a product that is called Concrobium Mold Control that can be purchased at Walmart, Lowes, etc. It is a spray and works very well without doing damage to the surfaces I've applied it to. I treated once and have not had to re-treat.

Not at the storage lot but many campgrounds have mulch or wood chips. We also have some mulch in our garden but that is a good 10-15 feet back from the rear of the trailer and this is near the front of a 40' fiver, the trailer is only home for short periods of time around camping trips or maintenance sessions. I guess anything is possible though.
